About Louise Dean

Louise was educated at Cambridge University and has lived and worked in Hong Kong, New York and France. She lives now in Cranbrook, Kent with her three children and is working on her new novel.

Her four novels have been published internationally with Penguin and Simon & Schuster and others. Louise Dean has won the Society of Authors Betty Trask Prize, Le Prince Maurice Prize, been nominated for The Guardian First Book Prize, and longlisted for the Man Booker and the International Dublin Literary Award. Her first book ‘Becoming Strangers’ was named one of The Observer’s top four books of the year, and her most recent book ‘The Old Romantic’ an Oprah Book of the Week. Her readers and reviewers include Ali Smith and JM Coetzee who described Louise’s second book as showing ‘all the resources of the novelist’s art.’

Louise has taught novel writing since 2010. She is the founder and creator of the online novel writing courses at The Novelry.
